Designer of the Month: Chloe Gardner

Chloe Gardner has been chosen as June’s ‘Designer of the Month’. Chloe is a mixed media artist. She comes from a family of artists and is self-taught.

One of the most important things about Chloe’s artwork is colour. She says she tries to implement her colour philosophy in all of her art. Her explanation of her philosophy is that ‘bright colours can be uplifting and inspiring.’

Surroundings are a significant inspiration. Having spent five years living on a beach in Brazil and subsequently on a Scottish beach, these environments have played a huge role in Chloe’s artwork. The bright colours and subject matter of Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes have also been extremely influential. It is during her time in Brazil that Chloe decided she wanted her art to be more than just a hobby.

Collage is a media which Chloe now works a lot with. She spends a great amount of time collecting feathers and leaves.
