The Process of Printing a School Tea Towel
We love printing all of the school tea towel orders we have come in to us and thought you’d like to find out exactly how they are created.
The first action which needs to take place is creating the wonderful artwork for the school tea towel.
Once we have received an order and it has been processed, an order confirmation is sent to the customer.
The customer’s order details and artwork are then sent up to our art department. A member of the art department will make sure the artwork is ready to go ahead with the printing stage. Once the artwork is ready, a proof will be sent to the customer for them to check. When we receive an approval from the customer, the film can be printed.
The next step is to get the screen ready. To begin with, the template (film) is placed onto the screen.
The screen then needs to be exposed which allows the image to be burned onto the screen.
After the screen has been exposed, it will be washed. This enables the ink to come through the screen in the necessary areas of the artwork.
Now the screen needs to be left to completely dry. When it is ready, the process of spotting can take place. This stage is necessary to get rid of any registration marks which we don’t want to appear on the final print.
The screen then needs to be re-exposed.
We then use gum tape to tape the edges of the screen. The screen is now ready for the printing stage.
The screen is placed into our carousel printing machine and the printing can take place.
The tea towels are then put through the dryer.
The school tea towels can then be sent out to the customer. We hope everyone is as pleased with them as Miranda was!
