May’s ‘Designer of the Month’ is Jasmine Mercer. Jasmine creates artwork for children’s books, advertisers, large scale murals and also exhibits her pieces in galleries both here in the UK and the US.
Her artwork often starts with preliminary sketches in pen and ink. She combines observational drawings with her imagination to produce work which is intensely alive. Her preferred media for final pieces is acrylic. The acrylic allows her to layer up delicate colours which result in rich paintings.
Jasmine is interested in visual and behavioural details of human and animal subjects. Her observations into nature and detail of personality can be seen in her art that has a strong portrayal of emotion.
