The Tea Towel?? Soaked with Fundraising Potential

A domestic favourite that can be found in any self respecting kitchen, where would we be without the versatile tea towel? Whether it’s for regular drying duty or an emergency call out following an unexpected spillage, this unassuming warrior of the kitchen is always on hand to step in and clean up. What’s most striking about the tea towel is its sheer endurance. For years it will mop, dry, even on occasion take the place of the more glamorous oven mitt, and yet one bi-weekly spin in the washing machine and it’s back screaming for more.

With this in mind it is little wonder that the tea towel continues to be the primary “go to guy” for school fundraisers up and down the country. After all, if parents are going to be spending their hard earned cash, they want to know they’re buying something that is great value, personal and a long term memento of their child’s time at school – three things guaranteed by the tea towel.

The importance of the first is simple – if the cost isn’t low then it the school won’t be able to make a healthy margin and raise the required funds, which is the entire point of the process! The cost of tea towels compared to other fundraising options is very modest indeed, ensuring that the majority of the revenue generated can go where it’s really needed – to the school!

The second is where tea towel is in an absolute league of its own. Every child will draw a sketch of themselves on the tea towel, meaning that every tea towel has a small but prominent space dedicated to that child – an absolute guaranteed winner for any doting grandparent!

And finally there is the durability of the tea towel. Well all I know is this – I’m now in my late twenties and whenever I am in the kitchen of my parents house and find myself in need of something absorbent, I still to this day open the draw to be met with tea towels plastered with the faces of my sister and I at different stages of schooling. Amazingly it seems my drawing abilities peaked at the age of five.

Anyway, my dodgy artwork aside, the point is that there is nothing more cost effective, personal or lasting, and it is this that makes the tea towel the perfection product for school fundraising.
