Print your own tea towels

With the tea towel filling such an important role in the household, isn’t it worthwhile having one that’s just a little bit special? One that captures a particular memory, story or theme? Well I think so and it would seem I’m not alone. Every year more and more people get in touch to request custom designed and printed tea towels. From the informative to the ridiculous, if people have a particular design in mind then it’s just a couple of steps away from being immortalised on either our 100% cotton or the (increasingly popular) eco cotton tea towel.

Tea and everything that surrounds it has long been synonymous with the British way, and therefore by mere association the tea towel was destined to be a national treasure. From aristocratic origins, hand weaved and hand embroidered, slowly the tea towel trickled down to more popular usage and by the 1930’s it had made a home of almost every kitchen drawer in the country.

With the royal wedding on the horizon, it is little wonder that the themed tea towel is making an epic resurgence. Two great British institutions – the Royal family and tea – symbolically united via a functional household favourite, the tea towel. After the proud British public have wiped the tears from their faces on the 29th April, it’ll be the faces of William and Kate that return the favour and dutifully wipe cups and saucers around the nation.

It isn’t only our love for royal memorabilia that fuels the need for custom designed tea towels. We also have frequent requests from other soon to be newlyweds, keen to record their special day in a fun design. Sometimes the requests are a little saucier (I’m thinking tea towels for hen-do’s in particular!) but what’s a tea towel for if not to print naughty images upon and then wrap around your head as a make-shift veil on a girls night out!
